It's wonderful to see that it looks relatively the same as it did 30 years ago. There was more snow leading up to Dinwoody Pass. Once you get up on the pass, you see Wyoming's tallest, Gannett Peak. Perhaps the most spectacular scene up on the pass was looking behind, back down at titcomb basin. It is so beautiful, thank you for this post!

Ning,
It's on the north side of Highway 20. You can park right where you turn off the highway, or in the viewpoint parking lot at the end of the spur road. Liberty Bell Mountain can be seen from Blue Lake, but it is partially obscured. Hope this helps.

Alan,
Beautiful photos. I like the meadows with mountain backdrop.
Regarding the location:
You mentioned "Right where the road to the overlook splits off Highway 20 you can see the open meadow. "
You also mentioned that " The meadows are the headwaters of State Creek" .
State Creek is at the north side of Hwy 20.

Is your location at the South of Hwy 20 or North? Where can we park?

Looks like you can't not see Liberty Bell Mountain from anyplace along Bell Lake Trail or on the trail to Early Winters Spires. Is that right?
Thanks.

Hi Anna, Thanks for checking out my post. Glad you liked it! It's about an hour to reach the lakes from the hut. There is a rough cairned trail from the hut, but it may be easier and quicker to just pick a way straight up the boulder fields. It's a fun area to explore, so give yourself plenty of time to relax and enjoy it!

Hi Alan,

Can you still recall roughly how long it took you to hike from the Wendy Thompson hut to the Upper Lakes where you spent your first night? We stayed at the hut last year but didn't go above, so just deciding if going further to the upper lakes to camp would be an option for us.

Thanks, loved reading about your trip and looking at your beautiful photos!

Hi Andrew, I just returned from Limestone Lakes. The road is in good shape all the way to the trailhead. Ordinary passenger cars will have no trouble. Long dusty access though. There is a difficult ford of Joffre Creek right at the start, and it’s a bit confusing to find the correct trail after the ford.

These tips are incredibly useful for anyone capturing moments while on the move.
Backpacking often brings unpredictable conditions, so planning and lightweight gear are key.
Loved the practical advice on lighting and composition in outdoor settings.
Perfect guide for travel enthusiasts who want to improve their photography skills!
